NIKKI EARLES NAMED TECH'S FEMALE ATHLETE
OF THE WEEK
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech has named Golden Suns senior guard
Nikki Earles (Huntsville, Ark.) as this
week's 12th Female
Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2008-09 school year.
Earles,
who is the first Golden Sun Basketball player to be
honored this season, earns this week's honor
after helping the 20th-ranked Golden Suns post two
non-conference home victories and improve its record to
6-2 on the season. For the week, Earles averaged nine
points, seven rebounds and 2.5 steals per game and shot
44 percent from the floor and 75 percent at the free
throw line. In Tech's 103-39 win over Southern
Nazarene's 'B' Team, Earles, who is one of the team's
four seniors this year, scored 11 points and had three
steals and in its 89-71 win over Mid-America Christian,
Earles pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds and added
seven points. On the season, Earles is third on the team
in scoring at 8.8 points per game and averaging 6.0
rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.0 steals per contest and is
shooting 81 percent (13-for-16) from the foul line. She
has reached double figures in five games and has had
five or more rebounds in six games.
In her four-year career, Earles has played in 98 games
and made 53 starts. She has scored 470 career points,
dished out 146 career assists and has picked up 111
career steals. In addition, she is a career 42 percent
shooter from the field, a 36 percent shooter from the
3-point line and a 75 percent career free throw shooter.
She has had 17 career double-figure scoring games and
one 20-point scoring game. Earles has been part of two
consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament teams at Tech
and has helped the Golden Suns compile a 69-30 record
over the past 3-plus seasons.
