RACHEAL URQUHART NAMED TECH'S FEMALE ATHLETE
OF THE WEEK
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech has named Golden Suns senior outside
hitter Racheal Urquhart (Chatham, Ont.) as this week's
sixth Female
Student-Athlete of the Week for the 2008-09 school year.
Urquhart,
who is the fourth Golden Sun volleyball player honored
this season, earns this week's honor after helping Tech
go 3-1 last week, including posting a four-set home win
last Tuesday over Harding in front of 930 fans, which
not only a school, but also a new GSC single-match
attendance record. For the week, Urquhart averaged 3.85
kills and 3.38 digs per set and hit .281 in Tech's four
matches. She had two double-doubles, including recording
22 kills and 18 digs against Southern Arkansas. On the
season, Urquhart is averaging 2.92 kills and 2.70 digs
per set and is hitting .269. In addition, she has
recorded six double-doubles on the season.
In her career, Urquhart has recorded 1,419 kills and is
66 kills shy of the school's career record of 1,485 held
by former Golden Sun Misty Martin (1998-01) and
she has recorded 1,283 digs and is 42 digs shy of the
school's all-time mark of 1,325 held by former Golden
Sun Julie Plotts. In addition, she has recorded
48 double-doubles, which is fourth-most in school
history and has had 73 double-figure kill matches and 61
double-digit dig matches, which is tied for the school's
all-time lead. Urquhart has been named a two-time
All-GSC West Division selection, including a First-Team
selection as a sophomore in 2006.
