R.C. WALLACE NAMED TECH MALE
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech has
named senior defensive end R.C. Wallace (Las
Cruces, N.M.)
as this week's 10th male student-athlete of the week.
Wallace,
who is a member of the Wonder Boys Football team, earns
this week's honor after collecting three total tackles,
including two solo stops and having both a tackle for
loss and a quarterback sack in last Saturday's 48-14
loss at fifth-ranked Delta State. On the season,
Wallace, who has started all nine games at either
defensive end or tackle, has recorded 20.5 total
tackles, including 16 solo stops and has had a
team-leading 9.5 tackles for 48 yards in losses and has
picked up 3.0 quarterback sacks. In addition, Wallace
has had one quarterback hurry and has broken up a pass.
In his career, Wallace has played in 37 career games and
has made 22 starts, including 10 consecutive starts
entering Saturday's season finale against Harding. For
his career, Wallace has recorded 86 total tackles,
including 62 solo stops and has had 26.5 tackles for
loss and 7.5 quarterback sacks. In addition, Wallace,
who played high school football at Beebe [Ark.] High
School, has had four pass break-ups, two fumble
recoveries, one interception, one forced fumble and has
blocked a kick for the Wonder Boys.

Why did you
ultimately choose to come to Tech?
R.C. Wallace: I'm not really sure,
because that was a long time ago. But, I do
know that if I could back knowing what I
know now, I wouldn't change a thing.
Outside of athletics, what is your favorite
thing about college life?
RCW: I like making new friends.
What is your favorite type of music/group?
RCW: Rock is my favorite.
What do you consider your hobby?
RCW: I don't do a lot now other than
football, so I guess I'll have to find a new
hobby soon.
What sport other than football do you like
to watch or would you like to play the most?
RCW: I like cross country and swimming.
Who is one person that has had the biggest
impact on your life?
RCW: My mom has had the biggest impact on my
life.
What is your most memorable moment as a Tech
athlete?
RCW: During my redshirt year in 2004, when
we lost in overtime to UCA. I know we lost
the game, but I've never in my life been as
excited as I was before the ball was snapped
on that final play of the game.
What would you do on your dream vacation?
RCW: I would like to relax and see the
sights of Hawai'i.
What is your major at Tech?
RCW: I am a speech communication major.
What do you plan to do after graduation?
RCW: I would like coach and possibly teach.
Do you have a pet?
RCW: I have a dog and his name is Samson.
How many times a day do you find yourself
checking facebook?
RCW: I check it maybe once a week. I was
addicted for awhile, but I got over it after
weeks of rehab.
What's been the most rewarding class you
have had while being at Tech?
RCW: Any class I've had with Dr. Vaughn.
