ROBBIE HOHLER NAMED TECH MALE
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech has
named senior first baseman Robbie Hohler (Searcy,
Ark.)
as this week's Male Student-Athlete of the Week.
Hohler,
who is member of the Wonder Boys Baseball team, earns
this week's honor, after closing out his Tech
career in grand fashion last weekend against Harding.
For the weekend, Hohler hit .667 with a slugging
percentage of 1.222 and an on-base percentage of .750 in
helping the Wonder Boys conclude the 2009 season by
taking two of three games against the Bison at Tech
Field. For the series, Hohler collected six hits in nine
at-bats and scored three runs, while driving in four and
also connecting on a two-run homer in Tech's 4-3 win in
the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. In addition,
Hohler also walked twice and hit two doubles. On
the season, Hohler, who had a team-best 15-game hitting
streak this season, finished with a .363 batting average
as he collected 45 hits in a 124 at-bats and scored 23
runs. In addition, he hit 10 doubles, three home runs
and drove in 22. He had a .516 slugging percentage on
the year and posted a .952 fielding percentage playing
both first base and shortstop.
In his four years as a Wonder Boy, Hohler posted a
career .267 batting average as he had 94 career hits in
352 career at-bats and scored 60 career runs. Along with
that, Hohler, who was a four-year letterwinner,
collected 18 career doubles, one career triple, five
home runs and recorded 42 career RBIs in 123 games. In
addition, he finished his career with 129 total bases
and was 16-for-24 in stolen bases in his career.

Why did you
ultimately choose to come to Tech?
Robbie Hohler: Tech was the only
school that seemed interested in me when I
was looking for a place to play baseball.
Outside of athletics, what is your favorite
thing about college life?
RH: All of the people you get to meet and
become friends with.
What is your favorite type of music/group?
RH: I like country mostly.
What do you consider your hobby?
RH: Anything that has to do with sports and
I also enjoy duck hunting.
What sport other than baseball do you like
to watch or would you like to play the most?
RH: I like college basketball and college
football.
Who is one person that has had the biggest
impact on your life?
RH: My parents are equally the two people
with the biggest impact in my life.
What is your most memorable moment as a Tech
athlete?
RH: My junior year, we had the bases loaded
with two outs. It was the bottom of the
ninth inning and I hit the game-winning
single.
What would you do on your dream vacation?
RH: I would go some place warm and just
relax.
What is your major at Tech?
RH: I am a wellness science major.
What do you plan to do after graduation?
RH: I plan on getting a job in Cardiac Rehab
or possibly Recreation Therapy.
Do you have a pet?
RH: I have a female black lab, her name is
Jetta.
How many times a day do you find yourself
checking facebook?
RH: Maybe once or twice a day.
What's been the most rewarding class you
have had while being at Tech?
RH: Field-Based Experience helped show me
jobs in my field and helped me learn about
Cardiac Rehab, which is a career I am
thinking about pursuing. |
