TARIO DANSBY NAMED TECH MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech has named sophomore defensive back Tario Dansby (Ashdown, Ark.) as this week's male student-athlete of the week.

Dansby, who is a member of the Wonder Boys Football team, earns this week's honor after recording 10 total tackles, including seven unassisted stops in the Wonder Boys 22-3 season opening win last Thursday over Northeastern State. In addition to the 10 tackles, Dansby, who was named the Defensive MVP by the Tech coaches from the NSU game, also had three tackles for a loss, forced a fumble and picked off a pass that was returned 16 yards.

In his first season as a Wonder Boy in 2007, Dansby finished the season with 53 total tackles, including 34 solo stops. In addition, he had 4.0 tackles for nine yards in losses, picked off three passes, which were returned for 114 yards and broke up two passes. Dansby also forced one fumble and recovered one fumble on the season. In Tech's 27-20 loss to North Alabama, Dansby returned an interception 98 yards for the game's first score. The 98-yard interception return was the second-longest in school history.

Dansby and his Wonder Boy teammates will continue the 2008 season on Thursday, Sept. 4, when they travel to Warrensburg, Mo., to face Central Missouri in a 7 p.m. contest.
