FORMER WONDER BOY BASKETBALL PLAYER ROBERT KENNEDY SIGNS
PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT WITH TEAM IN PORTUGAL
RUSSELLVILLE,
Arkansas
–
Former Wonder Boy forward
Robert Kennedy
has signed a professional basketball contract to play
with Electrico FC Basketball Club in the Proliga League
in Portugal.
Kennedy,
who is a 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward, played only 12
games last season for the Wonder Boys after being a
mid-semester transfer from Murray State University.
In his only season as a Wonder Boy, Kennedy averaged 4.5
points and 1.9 rebounds per game and shot 50 percent
from the field and 72 percent from the free throw line.
In addition, he averaged 10.1 minutes per game. In
Tech’s 79-76 home win over Delta State, Kennedy scored a
career-best 16 points and pulled down five rebounds to
help Tech secure its second-ever Gulf South Conference
Tournament berth.
“Robert came in last season as a mid-semester transfer
and really helped us out,” Wonder Boys Head Coach
Mark Downey said. “We want to wish Rob the best luck
as he begins his professional career in Portugal.”
Kennedy becomes the fourth Wonder Boy over the past
three years to play professional basketball as former
Wonder Boy guard Denarryl Rice (2005-07) played
in 20 games last season for the Yakima Sun Kings of the
Continental Basketball Association, while former Wonder
Boy guard Terrance Whiters (2006-07) played four
games last season for the Central Oregon Hotshots of the
International Basketball League and former Wonder Boy
forward Ike Ohanson (2004-06) has played the past
two seasons with the Tacoma Jazz of the International
Basketball League. Ohanson was selected to play in the
2008 IBL All-Star Game.
