AMANDA GRAPPE NAMED REPEAT FIRST-TEAM
DAKTRONICS ALL-SOUTH REGION SELECTION

Arkansas Tech senior forward Amanda Grappe
(Benton, Ark.) was named a repeat First-Team Daktronics
All-South Region selection that was released on
Wednesday.
The nomination and voting for the Daktronics All-South
Region Teams was conducted by the sports information
directors from the South Region schools. The five
members of the first team from each of the eight regions
across the country advance to the national ballot for
consideration on the 2008-09 Daktronics Women’s
Basketball All-America team. All NCAA Division II sports
information directors will select the All-America team,
which will be announced next week.
Grappe,
who was named the Gulf South Conference West Division
Player of the Year and was a three-time All-GSC West
Division selection, was named a repeat All-South Region
selection this season after averaging 19.0 points and
8.1 rebounds per game, along with shooting 54 percent
from the field, 42 percent from the 3-point line and 78
percent at the free throw line. She finished her Tech
career as the program’s 10th all-time leading scorer
(1,738 points) and the program’s fourth all-time leading
rebounder (791 boards). In addition, she recorded 27
double-digit scoring games this season and had a
team-best nine double-doubles and was named the GSC West
Division Player of the Week three times. In her career,
she had 94 career double-digit scoring efforts, 20
double-doubles and 29 games of scoring 20 or more
points, including five career 30-plus point games. On
the season, Grappe, who led Tech to a 19-9 overall
record this season and a third-place finish in the GSC
West Division, has been named a three-time GSC West
Division Player of the Week and has also been named one
of the five finalists from Region 5 for the NCAA
Division II WBCA State Farm All-America team.
Joining Grappe on the Daktronics All-South Region
First-Team are Florida Southern sophomore guard Chelsea
Johnson, Nova Southeastern junior center Stephanie
Sarosi, Eckerd senior center Olivia Nagle and West
Georgia senior guard Dominic Cranford, who was named the
South Region’s Player of the Year and was also named the
GSC East Division Player of the Year. Grappe, Johnson
and Sarosi were all first-team selections last season.
The Second-Team Daktronics All-South Region team
consists of West Georgia senior forward Ashley Huff,
Delta State sophomore guard Bug Cooper, Florida Tech
sophomore guard Lynisha Nelson and Barry teammates,
senior guard Princess Bailey and sophomore forward
Mariesa Greene.
