GOLDEN SUNS ANNOUNCE ITS SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMP DATES

        RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas Arkansas Tech University has announced that it will be conducting five women’s basketball camps on the Tech campus this upcoming summer, according to Golden Suns Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dave Wilbers.

          The five camps hosted by Tech this summer will include two sessions of team camp, an individual skills camp, a Lil’ Suns camp, and a shooting camp.

The first session of Tech’s Team Camp will be held from June 15-17 and the second session is scheduled for July 15-17. The cost of the camp is $135 for overnight on-campus campers and $90 for commuter campers without any meals and $115 for commuter campers with meals. The team camps are limited to 72 teams per session. The team camp will be divided into a Junior High and Senior High divisions and teams will be classified according to their level of play and classification. All of the team camp games will have officials, a time keeper and a score keeper. The second team camp will also feature a Gulf South Conference Women’s Basketball Officials Camp.  

In addition to the two team camps, Tech will also be having an Individual Skills Camp, which will be held from July 6-9. The cost of the skills camp is $225 for overnight on-campus campers, $135 for commuter campers without meals and $175 for commuter campers with meals. The skills camp is open to anyone in grades 5-12. Registration for the camp will be held at Tucker Coliseum on Monday, July 6 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Also on July 6-9, a Lil’ Suns camp will be held. The camp will cost $80 and it is for commuters only. The Lil' Suns camp is open to all girls in grades K-4. Registration for the Lil’ Suns camp will be held Monday, July 6 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Wilbers said that the skills camp will help players build fundamental skills in all aspects of the game of basketball and is geared to the athlete’s current level of competition and builds to their next level of competition. Each player will receive individual instruction through drills and games and all campers will be classified according to their grade level and will compete in their age division unless they choose to play up.

In addition, a shooting camp will also be offered this summer. This camp will teach the basic fundamentals of the shot, 3-point shooting, guard/post moves, and one-on-one moves. This camp is open to girls in grades 3-12. The shooting camp is scheduled to take place July 30-31. It is also a commuter only camp and the cost will be $75. Registration for the shooting camp will be on Thursday, July 31 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum.
