NCAA DIVISION II SOUTH REGIONAL CROSS COUNTRY POLL
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech Women’s Cross Country remains fourth in this
week’s third NCAA Division II South Regional rankings
that are compiled by the United States Track and Field
and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Tech opened the 2008 season ranked fourth in the
USTFCCCA NCAA Division II South Regional Preseason Poll
and then was ranked fourth in the previous two regular
season polls.
The USTFCCCA NCAA Division II region poll is released
every week during the regular season beginning on Sept.

country teams in each of the eight NCAA regions. Eight
regional representatives coordinate the voting in their
own region with input from the coaches.
Tech remains fourth after finishing ninth at last
weekend’s Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Mo. The
ninth place finish last weekend followed Tech’s fourth
place at its own Twilight Run on Aug. 29 and a 13th
place at Brooks/Memphis Twilight Classic on Sept. 13.
Tampa, who is the defending South Regional champion,
remains first in this week’s poll and is followed by
Harding at No. 2 and Alabama-Huntsville at No. 3.
Following Tech in the poll is Albany State at No. 5,
North Alabama moves up one spot to No. 6 and West
Florida climbs two spots to No. 7. Nova Southeastern is
ranked eighth and is followed by West Georgia at No. 9
and Montevallo rounds out this week’s poll at No. 10.
The Golden Suns return to action this Saturday, Sept. 27
when they compete at the UALR Invitational. The race,
which is 5,000-meters, will get underway at 11:20 a.m.
