FOOTBALL COACHES NAME MVPS FROM HENDERSON STATE GAME
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
The
Arkansas Tech football coaching staff has selected its
Most Valuable Players from its 44-14 road win Saturday
over Henderson State.
The
Offensive MVP honor went to senior quarterback Nick
Graziano (Moraga, Calif.). Graziano earns his second
MVP honor of the season as he was named the Offensive
MVP following the Arkansas-Monticello game. Graziano
earns the Offensive MVP honor after grading out at 84
percent in the win over the Reddies, according to Tech
Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Steve
Mullins. Against the Reddies, Graziano was 37-for-51
through the air for a school record 456 yards and threw
five touchdown passes. In addition, Graziano carried the
ball two times for 21 yards, including two yards after
contact. The 456 passing yards established a new
single-game school record for the Wonder Boys, bettering
the old mark of 431 yards set in Tech’s homecoming win
over West Georgia on Oct. 17. Graziano’s performance was
the single-best passing mark in the league this season
and his total offense mark of 477 yards was also a
season-high in the league.
Brandon Wright (Stuttgart, Ark.). Wright earns
his first defensive MVP honor of the season after
grading out at 82 percent in the win over the Reddies.
Against the Reddies, Wright recorded four tackles, three
tackles for loss and two quarterback sacks. Wright and
his defensive teammates held the GSC’s leading rushing
team to 37 yards rushing and 334 yards total for the
game.
The coaches awarded Special Teams MVP honors to senior
defensive back Lenald Mombo (Chicago, Ill.).
Mullins said that Mombo earns the special teams honor
this week after being the high point man on Tech’s kick
coverage team against the Reddies.
Tech (6-2 overall, 4-2 GSC) will return to
action next Saturday, Oct. 31, when they close the home
portion of its regular season schedule against Delta
State (4-4 overall, 3-3 GSC). The game, which will
kickoff at 6 p.m. in Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field,
will mark the final home game for Tech’s 21-member
senior class. The seniors will be honored in a pregame
ceremony prior to kickoff.
