WONDER BOYS JUMPS ONE SPOT TO NINTH IN LATEST
NCAA DIVISION II
SUPER REGIONAL TWO POLL

Arkansas Tech Football jumped one spot to ninth in this
week’s third installment of the NCAA Division II Super
Regional Two poll.
The Super Regional rankings, which will be released
weekly leading up to the end of the regular season, are
used to determine the six teams that advance into the
NCAA Division II playoffs out of the NCAA’s four super
regions.
Tech, who is 5-2 overall and a 3-2 in the Gulf South
Conference following its 62-30 homecoming win last
Saturday over West Georgia, is one of three GSC schools
ranked in this week’s third Super Regional Two Poll.
Tech’s region includes teams from the GSC, the SIAC
(Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) and the
SAC (South Atlantic Conference).
Both of Tech’s losses are to teams ranked in this week’s
Super Regional Two poll as North Alabama (8-0 overall,
8-0 D-II) is ranked No. 1 and West Alabama (5-3 overall,
4-2 D-II) is ranked sixth, three spots ahead of Tech.
North Alabama sits atop the Super Regional Two poll for
the second consecutive week. Albany State (7-0 overall,
7-0 D-II) out of the SIAC is ranked second and
Carson-Newman (6-2 overall, 5-2 D-II) out of the SAC is
ranked third. Mars Hill (5-2 overall, 5-1 D-II) from the
SAC moves up one spot to No. 4 and UNC-Pembroke (6-1
overall, 5-1 D-II), an NCAA Division II independent,
falls one spot to No. 5.
West Alabama is ranked sixth and the Tigers are followed
by Fort Valley State (5-3 overall, 4-2 D-II), who is
from the SIAC, at No. 7 and they are followed by
Morehouse (5-2 overall, 5-2 D-II) from the SIAC at No.
8, Tech is ranked ninth and Wingate (5-2 overall, 5-2
D-II) rounds out this week’s poll at No. 10.
The Wonder Boys return to action on Oct. 24, when they
travel to Arkadelphia, Ark., to face Henderson State
(3-4 overall, 3-2 GSC) in a 3 p.m. game at Carpenter-Haygood
Stadium on the HSU campus.
