TECH FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES ITS FOUR SUMMER CAMP DATES

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – Arkansas Tech University has announced that it would be conducting five football camps on the Tech campus this summer, according to Wonder Boys Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Steve Mullins.

The camps that will be offered are Youth Day Camp, Team Camp, Senior Combine Camp, Passing Skills Camp, and the 12th Annual Lineman Only camp.

Tech’s first camp will be a Team Camp on June 6. The camp is scheduled to begin with check-in at 7:30 a.m. on June 6. The cost of the camp is $250 per team. Teams that attend this camp will receive valuable live repetitions against other schools and systems. The camp will focus on several phases of practice including inside drill, 1-on-1’s, skeleton drills and scrimmages.  Drills will take place on Tech’s practice fields and be supervised by Tech’s football staff. Full pads, helmets and mouthpieces must be worn and provided by each camper. Additionally, each camper must be covered by school or personal insurance.

Following its team camp, the next camp will be the first of two sessions of its Youth Day Camp. The first session will take place on June 8-10. The camp is open to anyone between the ages of 6-12 and will run from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. each day. The cost of the youth day camp is $50 per person and includes a t-shirt. Registration for the camp begins at 8:30 a.m. on June 8 in Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field on the Tech campus. The second session of the youth day camp will be held on July 6-8.

The next camp is a Senior Combine Camp, which will be held on June 13. This camp will provide testing and evaluation of football skills to college eligible seniors (2010 graduating class) and will be monitored by Tech’s football staff. The camp will run from 9 a.m-3 p.m. with check-in beginning at 8:30. The cost of the Senior Combine Camp is $50 and lunch is included in the price.

Following the Senior Combine Camp, Tech will conduct a Passing Skills Camp, which will run from June 14-17. This camp will feature small group instruction from Tech’s offensive and defensive position coaches, as well as, select area high school coaches. In addition, the camp’s emphasis will be on individual technique in the passing game. The camp is open to 7th through 12th graders and the cost is $200 for day campers and $250 for overnight campers. The overnight campers will be provided breakfast, lunch and dinner. Check-in will begin at 11 a.m. on June 14 at the Hull Building on the Tech campus. Shoulder pads, helmets and mouthpieces must be worn and provided by each camper.

Tech’s final camp of the summer is its 12th-Annual Lineman Camp, which includes offensive and defensive linemen, in addition to linebackers, safeties and tight ends. The Lineman Camp will be held from June 21-24 and is open to kids in grades 7-12. Registration begins at 11 a.m. on June 21 at the Hull Building. The cost of the camp is $250 for overnight campers and $200 for commuter campers. The overnight campers will be provided breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Lineman Camp is designed for campers to develop fundamental skills which enable tight ends, linebackers, offensive and defensive linemen to be successful. Among some of the things that will be taught are 2 and 3-point stances, drive and zone blocking for offensive linemen, pulling and trapping and 3 and 5-step pass pro techniques on offense, along with drive, reach, down and trap block reaction and pass rush techniques on defense.
