FORMER WONDER BOYS JEREMY ASHCRAFT, TITO JOSE PLAYING FOR OKLAHOMA CITY YARD DAWGZ OF AF2 ARENA FOOTBALL LEAGUE

        OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma – Former Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys Jeremy Ashcraft and Tito Jose are playing football together once again as members of the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of the AF2 Arena Football League.

Ashcraft, who was signed by the Yard Dawgz prior to the team’s game on May 30 against Corpus Christi, plays on the offensive line and Jose, who has played in nine of the team’s 10 games this season, is listed as a defensive back on the team’s roster.

Both Ashcraft and Jose helped the Yard Dawgz improve to 5-5 on the season with OKC’s 56-54 win this past Saturday at North Little Rock’s Alltel Arena against the Arkansas Twisters. Against the Twisters, Ashcraft did not see any action, while Jose had 2.5 tackles, including a solo stop and a fumble recovery. On the season with the Yard Dawgz, Jose has collected 15.5 total tackles, including nine solo stops and has had one tackle for loss and a fumble recovery.

Ashcraft, who is a native of Marshall, Texas, completed his two-year Tech career this past fall with the Wonder Boys. While with the Wonder Boys, Ashcraft was named a two-time All-Gulf South Conference selection on the offensive line and was also named a two-time Daktronics All-Super Region II honoree and a Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-South Region selection as a junior in 2007. This past season with Tech, Ashcraft started in and played in all 10 games at right tackle and averaged a grade of 81 percent on the season. In addition, he led Tech with 78 knockdown blocks and had 13 pancake blocks and helped Tech’s offensive line allow just eight sacks in 10 games, which was tied for fourth in all of NCAA Division II football. Ashcraft played in two all-star games this past season as he participated in the East Coast Bowl in Petersburg, Va., in late November and then was named the Offensive Lineman of the Game at the 2009 Valero Cactus Bowl in Kingsville, Texas, in early January.

Jose, a native of San Diego, Calif., and transferred to Tech from Mesa [CA] Community College, played one season with the Wonder Boys in 2007 as a defensive back. In his one season as a Wonder Boy, Jose picked off a team-best five passes and returned them for 79 yards, including returning one 54 yards in Tech’s 21-20 win at Henderson State. His five interceptions were fourth-best in the GSC. In addition, Jose, who was named a Second-Team Daktronics All-Southeast Region selection, recorded 35 total tackles, including 24 solo stops and had 2.0 tackles for loss and forced three fumbles, which was ninth-best in the GSC. Along with the three forced fumbles, Jose also had two fumble recoveries and returned one of those fumbles 44 yards for a touchdown against Texas College.
