WONDER BOYS GOLF SHOOTS FIVE-UNDER PAR 571 TO FINISH
IN SECOND PLACE AT  NORTH ALABAMA FALL CLASSIC

        FLORENCE, Alabama – Arkansas Tech Men’s Golf concluded play here Tuesday by firing a five-under par 571 to finish second out of 10 teams at the North Alabama Fall Classic held at Blackberry Trail Golf Club.

Tech opened the two-day, 36-hole event by firing a 286 and then shot a three-under par 285 in Tuesday’s final round to jump from fourth place to second. Tech’s 285 on Tuesday was tied with West Georgia for the best score of the second round.

The Wonder Boys finished three shots behind tournament champion Missouri Southern (568). The Lions shot rounds of 279 and 289 respectively. North Alabama, the tournament’s host team, shot a 573 to finish in third place.

Leading the way for Tech was senior Ryan Hitt (Allen, Texas). Hitt, who earned All-Tournament Team honors, carded a six-under par 138 to finish in second place. Hitt carded back-to-back rounds of 69.

North Alabama’s Brett Munson took home individual medalist honors as he fired a seven-under par 137. Munson shot a 69 in the first round and then fired a 67 in the final round. Other members of the All-Tournament Team included Drury’s Thomas Hay and Missouri Southern’s duo of Andy Hogenmiller and Jamie Voegeli. All three of those golfers shot 139s to finish tied for third place.

In addition to Hitt, seniors Drew Richards (Prescott, Ark.) and Jonathon Spikes (Danville, Ark.) each carded even-par 144s to finish tied for eighth place. Richards fired back-to-back rounds of 72, while Spikes shot rounds of 71 and 73 respectively. Freshman Colton Dillard (Farmington, Ark.) shot a one-over par 145 (74, 71) to finish tied for 12th place, while freshman Parker Hale (Benton, Ark.) shot a 150 (75, 75) to finish tied for 33rd place and redshirt freshman Graham Rucker (Hot Springs, Ark.) carded a 151 (75, 76) playing as an individual to finish tied for 36th place.

Tech will return to action on Oct. 19-20 when they compete in the Indian Bayou Classic held at Indian Bayou Golf Club in Destin, Fla.
