GREEN AND GOLD FUND BEGINS ITS 2009-10 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech University launched its
2009-10 Green and Gold Fund membership drive in support
of Wonder Boys and Golden Suns athletics on Wednesday.
Green and Gold Fund
membership is open to any Arkansas Tech fan and provides
the university with critical auxiliary funding for its
10 intercollegiate athletic programs.
“As the cost of
scholarships, travel and equipment increases, so does
the importance of the Green and Gold Fund,” said Kelly
Davis, director of corporate and athletic relations.
“The gifts that our alumni and friends make to the Green
and Gold Fund allow us to provide our coaches and
student-athletes with the tools that they need to
compete and represent our university with distinction.”
Arkansas Tech continued its
tradition of producing champions in athletics and in
life during the 2008-09 academic year.
Tech captured the 2009 Gulf South
Conference title in men’s basketball, while Tech was the
2008 GSC West Division volleyball champion and the 2009
GSC West Division softball champion.
In the classroom, 98 Tech
student-athletes achieved a 3.0 grade point average
during the spring 2009 semester and 65 Wonder Boys and
Golden Suns qualified for the 2008-09 Gulf South
Conference Academic Honor Roll. That brings the total
number of Tech student-athletes on the GSC Academic
Honor Roll since 1995 to 681.
Arkansas Tech student-athletes also
identified themselves as champions in the community
during 2008-09, giving 1,650 volunteer hours to aid
citizens of the Arkansas River Valley.
Members of the Green and
Gold Fund receive a variety of benefits based upon
giving levels. Benefits can include tickets to regular
season home athletic events and admission to hospitality
areas at home football and basketball games.
Membership brochures are
scheduled to go out in the mail this week. Any Tech fan
who does not receive a membership brochure by July 10
and wishes to have one may call (479) 968-0337 for more
information.
The membership brochure is
also available online at
www.athletics.atu.edu.
