ARKANSAS HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ASSOCIATION ALL-STAR GAMES
THIS WEEK IN FAYETTEVILLE WILL FEATURE 13 FUTURE
TECH STUDENT-ATHLETES

This week in Fayetteville, 13 future Arkansas Tech
student-athletes will close out their high school
careers by playing in the 2009 East-West Tyson/Arkansas
National Guard Arkansas High School Coaches Association
All-Star Games.
The AHSCA conducts all-star games every summer in
baseball, football, softball, volleyball, boys and girls
soccer and boys and girls basketball on the campus of
the University of Arkansas. This year, the all-star
football game has been moved to Bentonville High
School’s Tiger Stadium due to ongoing renovations to the
playing surface at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
Six of Tech’s 13 future student-athletes will
participate in the All-Star Football Game on Friday,
while five future basketball players, including four
future Golden Suns will play in the All-Star Basketball
Game at Bud Walton Arena on Thursday. In addition, Tech
will have one future softball player playing for the
West Team in the All-Star Softball Game on Wednesday at
Bogle Park and one future Golden Sun volleyball player
will compete for the West Team in the All-Star
Volleyball Game on Wednesday.
The first of Tech’s future student-athletes to compete
at this week’s All-Star Games will be Perryville High
School’s Natalie Magie. Magie, who recently
signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Golden
Suns Softball team, will play for the West Team in the
All-Star Softball Game, which will be a doubleheader
beginning at 5 p.m. at Bogle Park on Wednesday, June 24.
Also on Wednesday, Mena High School’s Brittany Ryan
will play for the West Team in the All-Star Volleyball
Game at Barnhill Arena beginning at 7 p.m. Ryan signed
with the Golden Sun Volleyball team during the spring
signing period.
On Thursday, June 25, five future Tech basketball
players will take the court at Bud Walton Arena in the
annual AHSCA All-Star Basketball Game. The girls game
will begin at 6 p.m. and four future Golden Suns will
suit up, including three for the West Team. The future
Golden Suns are Phagen Altom (Bald Knob/East
Team), Amanda Curtis (Vilonia/West Team),
Laura Davidson (Greenwood/West Team) and Jessica
Weatherford (Lake Hamilton/West Team). Meanwhile,
future Wonder Boy Kendall Pinkney of Dardanelle
will play for the West Team in the Boys All-Star Game,
which will begin at 8 p.m. Altom, Curtis and Weatherford
all signed with the Golden Suns during the early
recruiting period in November, while Davidson signed
during the spring recruiting period. Pinkney recently
signed his National Letter of Intent with the Wonder
Boys.
The final six future Tech student-athletes will compete
at this year’s AHSCA All-Star Football Game at 7 p.m. on
Friday, June 26 at Tiger Stadium in Bentonville. The
future Wonder Boys playing in this year’s all-star
football game are Jordan Akers (Charleston/West
Team), Blake Crouse (Siloam Springs/West Team),
Quentin Lindsey (Fountain Lake/West Team), Sam
Shelby (Paragould/East Team), Nick Smith
(Prescott/East Team) and Jared Vinson
(Russellville/East Team). All six of these future Wonder
Boys signed on National Signing Day on Feb. 4.
