Shusaku Hayashi is entering his first year at Arkansas Tech University and will be assisting  the school's head athletic trainer. At Tech, Hayashi will be helping with the football and men's basketball.

Hayashi, who is a native of Japan, comes to Tech in August of 2009 as an assistant athletic trainer after spending  time at Central Arkansas Sports Medicine as the Clinical/Outreach Head Trainer, where he provided athletic training to the student-athletes at North Little Rock school district, also was a supervisor for other Athletic Trainers at Central Arkansas Sports Medicine. Prior to working at Central Arkansas Sports Medicine, Hayashi spent one year (2005-06) as an athletic trainer at the Lane Physical Therapy Center, working primarily as a contact with Tech and high school athletic trainers and assisted in rehab for athletes in the Central Arkansas area. In addition to his athletic training work, Hayashi also spent time as an assistant athletic trainer at UCA and an athletic training student at University of Alabama.

A certified member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA). Hayashi, who is also certified in CPR/First Aid/AED, earned his bachelors degree in athletic training in 2001 from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Ala.
