GOLDEN SUNS TO HOST ITS THIRD-ANNUAL TECH TENNIS SLAM
TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND
RUSSELLVILLE,
Arkansas –
Arkansas Tech Golden Suns Tennis Head Coach Abby Davis
has announced that her team will open the fall portion
of its schedule this weekend by hosting its third-annual
Golden Suns Tennis Slam at the Chartwells Women’s Sports
Complex on the Tech campus.
The tournament, which begins on Friday, Sept. 25 and
runs through Saturday, Sept. 26, will feature five
women’s tennis teams, including Tech. Among the teams
expected to send competitors are Ouachita Baptist,
Henderson State, Southeastern Oklahoma and the
University of the Ozarks.
“This tournament will be a great opportunity once again
for us to expose the Russellville community to some
outstanding women’s college tennis competition,” Golden
Suns Head Coach Abby Davis said. “This tournament
should help our team prepare for the season.”
Davis said that the tournament will have four singles
flights and two doubles flights. Last season, three of
Tech’s singles players advanced to the semifinals in
their flights and five Golden Sun players posted winning
marks at the tournament.
“We will have some of the best competition from our
league,” Davis said. “The fans that come out to watch
will see some top-level tennis being played.”
