GOLDEN SUNS PICK UP THREE-SET WIN AT BACONE COLLEGE
MUSKOGEE,
Oklahoma –
The Arkansas Tech Golden
Sun Volleyball improved its record to 16-3 with a
three-set win over Bacone College here this past Friday
night. Tech won the match by scores of 25-10, 25-22 and
25-11.
The
Tech offensive attack was led by freshman outsider
hitter Marcella Mascarenhas (Sao Paulo, Brazil)
with 14 kills and freshman outside hitter Laura
Farney (Peoria, Illinois) with nine kills. Junior
setter Alexis Gillett (Jackson, Mich.) had 21
assists and sophomore setter Kera Dukic added 14
assists.
Gillett paced the team defensively with 14 digs, while
Dukic added 11 digs and Farney had 10. Freshman outside
hitter Allie Rankin (Richardson, Texas) had four
solo blocks and two block assist for the Golden Suns.
Senior middle blocker Dana Florian had three solo
blocks and two block assists and sophomore middle
blocker Sarah Von Lienen (Lakeland, Tenn.) added
two solo blocks in the 60-minute match.
Tech had a hitting percentage of .321 and totaled 58
digs for the match.
The
Golden Suns return to action Tuesday night when they
host Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers
University at 7 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum for "Pink Out
Night" for Breast Cancer Awareness.
